Regulatory readiness

What regulatory path must I verify before I assume I can tattoo at this event?

Event permit path

The state publishes a temporary-event permit route. Confirm it covers this event.

Event location: Savannah, GA. Georgia licensing is the state starting point.

Event-specific steps recorded

  • Georgia DPH Body Artist Certification or a Temporary Body Artist Permit for event work
  • Current Bloodborne Pathogen / Universal Precautions training for the temporary artist permit
  • Current First Aid and CPR training for the temporary artist permit
  • Government-issued identification for the temporary artist permit
  • Hepatitis B vaccination, immunity, medical contraindication or signed declination documentation

Booth approval from Villain Arts is not a tattoo permit. A city, county or state can separately require a license or temporary permit to tattoo at this event.

Licenses and permits

Check the event rules and the local tattoo requirements.

Georgia DPH publishes a Temporary Body Artist Permit for event work. The permit is valid for up to 7 consecutive days and the application must be submitted to the local health authority at least 10 days before the event. Artists using the temporary route should start with the current DPH application and the Chatham County environmental-health office rather than assuming an out-of-state credential is enough.

Georgia also requires a temporary Body Art Studio permit for conventions and industry trade shows; the studio application must be submitted at least 30 days before the event. In Savannah, Coastal Health District Environmental Health regulates body art locally. Confirm with Villain Arts which studio-level filing is being handled by the organizer and what each artist must submit directly.

Booth approval and legal permission to tattoo are separate. Use the state guide as a starting point, then follow the event-specific regulator or organizer filing above.

Known costs not included in the booth figure

  • Georgia temporary body-artist permit fee where applicable
  • Additional badges beyond the current booth allocation
