Licenses and permits

Check the event rules and the local tattoo requirements.

Georgia allows a Health Authority to issue a Temporary Body Artist Permit for work in a permitted temporary studio. The permit is valid for up to 7 days, and the artist application must be submitted at least 10 days before work begins. The artist must be listed on the temporary studio application and provide the required education and Hepatitis B documentation.

Georgia separately requires a Temporary Body Art Studio permit for conventions and industry trade shows. The studio application must be submitted to the Health Authority at least 30 days before the event and is valid for no more than 7 consecutive days. Atlanta is in Fulton County, so confirm with the Fulton County Board of Health and Villain Arts which studio-level filing is being handled by the organizer and which artist filing remains yours.

Booth approval and legal permission to tattoo are separate. Use the state guide as a starting point, then follow the event-specific regulator or organizer filing above.

Known costs not included in the booth figure

  • Georgia or Fulton County temporary body-artist permit fee where applicable
  • Temporary studio permit fee where assigned to the booth or event operator
  • Additional badges beyond the current booth allocation
