StencilStudio Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how StencilStudio ("we", "us", "our") handles personal data when you use the StencilStudio iOS app and the related public pages on this website (together, the "Service").

StencilStudio is an AI-assisted stencil app built for tattoo artists, apprentices, and studios. You can upload photos, references, or existing tattoo images and generate stencil-style outputs faster than a fully manual workflow.

This policy applies specifically to that product and service. It is not intended for a general image-sharing platform.

1. Overview

We collect the data needed to:

• run accounts
• process uploaded files
• generate stencil outputs
• manage subscriptions and credits
• provide support
• keep the Service secure

We do not sell personal data.

We do not share personal data for third-party advertising.

You retain ownership of the images, references, prompts, and generated outputs you submit or create in the Service, subject to the limited rights required to operate the Service and as described in this policy and our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and Authentication Data

• Email address
• Authentication data (such as hashed passwords or identifiers from Apple/Google sign-in)
• Optional profile info (display name, artist name, studio name)

2.2 Uploaded Source Materials

To use core features, you may upload or capture:

• Photos
• Reference images
• Existing tattoo images
• Stencil-like source files
• Text instructions, prompts, or editing choices

These may include people, body parts, tattoos, or copyrighted material.

Only upload what is necessary for your work.

2.3 Generated Outputs and Project Data

• Generated stencil outputs, previews, exports, and saved files
• Generation history and job records
• Settings used (mode, detail level, presets, etc.)

2.4 Technical, Device, and Diagnostics Data

• Device model, OS, app version, language
• Timestamps and security logs
• Crash reports and performance diagnostics
• Backend request data needed to run the Service

2.5 Usage Data

• Features used and screens visited
• Generation counts and credits used
• Subscription status and credit lifecycle

2.6 Communication Data

• Support emails and messages
• Files or screenshots you send
• Any details you include in requests

2.7 Push Notifications

Push notifications are currently not active.

If we enable them in the future, we may collect a device push token and preferences.

If so, this policy will be updated.

2.8 Payments, Subscriptions, and Credits

If you purchase subscriptions or credits, we receive:

• Plan or product identifiers
• Purchase, renewal, and cancellation status
• Credit balances and usage events
• Transaction references

Payments are handled by Apple and related providers.

We do not receive full payment card details.

3. How We Use Your Data

To operate your account

• Create and maintain your account
• Authenticate access
• Store your settings, projects, and history

To deliver stencil features

• Store and retrieve your uploaded materials
• Generate stencil outputs
• Save and display your work

To run AI-powered generation

We send uploaded images, prompts, and related metadata to AI providers (such as OpenAI) only as needed to generate or refine the stencil output you request.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to use the materials you upload.

To manage subscriptions and credits

• Confirm paid access
• Manage credits and usage
• Restore purchases
• Fix billing or balance issues

To maintain and improve the Service

• Monitor performance and reliability
• Fix bugs and crashes
• Prevent abuse or unauthorized access

To communicate with you

• Reply to support and privacy requests
• Send essential service emails (billing, legal updates, etc.)

To comply with legal obligations

• Maintain records for tax and accounting
• Respond to lawful requests
• Enforce our terms

4. Legal Bases (GDPR)

• Supabase: authentication, database, storage
• OpenAI and similar providers: AI processing
• RevenueCat: subscriptions and credits
• Apple / platform providers: billing and distribution
• Sentry: crash reporting

If push notifications are enabled, we may use providers like Expo or Apple Push Services.

Providers process data only as needed to deliver their services.

6. Data Storage and Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including:

• encryption in transit
• access controls
• credential protection

No system is completely secure. We work to reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Some data may be processed outside your country depending on infrastructure.

7. Data Retention

We retain data only as long as needed.

• Account and project data: while your account is active
• Support data: as needed for support and records
• Logs: shorter periods for diagnostics
• Billing and compliance data: longer where required

You can delete your account inside the app.

When you do:

• data is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable time
• some data may remain in backups or for legal/compliance reasons

StencilStudio is not intended for users under 16.
