Regulatory readiness

What regulatory path must I verify before I assume I can tattoo at this event?

Event permit path

The state publishes a temporary-event permit route. Confirm it covers this event.

Event location: Oklahoma City, OK. Oklahoma licensing is the state starting point.

Event-specific steps recorded

  • Oklahoma Temporary Tattoo Artist License for visiting artists using the temporary route
  • Current bloodborne-pathogen certification for the temporary artist license
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications for the temporary artist license
  • Government-issued photo ID and birth-certificate documentation for the temporary artist application
  • Oklahoma Temporary Tattoo Establishment License for the convention operation

Booth approval from Villain Arts is not a tattoo permit. A city, county or state can separately require a license or temporary permit to tattoo at this event.

Licenses and permits

Check the event rules and the local tattoo requirements.

Oklahoma publishes a Temporary Tattoo Artist License for event work. The current application lists a $50 fee, requires BBP, First Aid and CPR certifications, photo ID, birth certificate, lawful-presence documentation and either two years of licensed experience or an approved apprenticeship. The temporary license cannot exceed 7 consecutive days. OSDH's event application instructs out-of-state artists to have complete applications and fees in the office 15 days before the event.

Oklahoma separately licenses the temporary tattoo establishment used for the event. The current event application lists a $500 tattooing fee, requires the complete application and fee at least 30 days before the event, limits the event license to a maximum of 3 days and requires the applicant to be affiliated with a currently licensed Oklahoma tattoo establishment. The temporary establishment is inspected before licensing, so confirm the organizer's filing before treating an artist license as sufficient.

Booth approval and legal permission to tattoo are separate. Use the state guide as a starting point, then follow the event-specific regulator or organizer filing above.

Known costs not included in the booth figure

  • $50 Oklahoma Temporary Tattoo Artist License for eligible visiting artists
  • $500 Oklahoma temporary tattoo-establishment event license where assigned to the event operator
  • Additional badges beyond the current booth allocation
