Regulatory readiness

What regulatory path must I verify before I assume I can tattoo at this event?

Event location: Kansas City, MO. Missouri licensing is the state starting point.

Event-specific steps recorded

  • Missouri Temporary Practitioner License for eligible out-of-state convention artists

Licenses and permits

Check the event rules and the local tattoo requirements.

Missouri provides a Temporary Practitioner License specifically for artists entering the state to work a state or national convention. State law requires the completed application at least 2 days before the convention and a $50 fee. The current application is for one event, and the license is valid for no more than 14 days and cannot be renewed.

The artist credential is separate from the temporary-establishment approval. Missouri requires the temporary establishment application at least 30 days before the event, lists a $100 tattoo-establishment fee and requires inspection immediately before operation. Confirm with Villain Arts which booth or operator is holding the establishment license before assuming your $50 practitioner license is sufficient by itself.

Booth approval and legal permission to tattoo are separate. Use the state guide as a starting point, then follow the event-specific regulator or organizer filing above.

Known costs not included in the booth figure

  • $50 Missouri Temporary Practitioner License for an eligible convention artist
  • $100 Missouri Temporary Tattoo Establishment License where assigned to the booth or operator
  • Additional badges beyond the current booth allocation
