The product boundary

Edit the photograph, not the tattoo.

A portfolio image is evidence of finished work. The safest useful editor is intentionally smaller than Lightroom or Photoshop: enough control to correct framing and a restrained whole-photo cast, but no mechanism for repairing the work inside the image.

What this editor changes

  • Whole-frame crop and orientation.
  • Limited straightening without perspective warping.
  • Global exposure and white-balance correction.
  • Bounded highlights, shadows, and global contrast.
  • Export size and format, with any downsampling disclosed.

What it refuses to change

  • Linework, fill, color, or tattoo geometry in a local region.
  • Blowout, patchiness, scars, missing ink, or healed appearance.
  • Skin texture, redness, blemishes, or body shape.
  • Lost detail under glare, blur, clipping, or missed focus.
  • Backgrounds through generative replacement or subject removal.

Retake beats rescue

If the file has lost tattoo information, stop editing.

Global sliders can move values that still exist in the file. They cannot reconstruct what glare, motion blur, missed focus, heavy perspective, clipped highlights, or deep shadow has already hidden.

Severe glare

If a reflection crosses tattoo detail, changing Highlights cannot truthfully rebuild what is underneath.

Blur or missed focus

Sharpening is excluded because it can imply line detail the source did not resolve.

Perspective distortion

A strong warp can change apparent tattoo geometry, so this editor does not offer perspective transforms.

Very low resolution

The editor never uses AI upscale or hallucinated detail. Retake or use the source at an honest size.

File and color limits

The browser is part of the color pipeline.

This tool accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP up to the existing StencilStudio browser-image limits. HEIC/HEIF is not promised because browser support is inconsistent. Canvas export can also normalize embedded wide-gamut color differently across browsers, so review the exported image on a color-managed device before publishing it as portfolio evidence.
