Event location: New Orleans, LA. Louisiana licensing is the state starting point.

Licenses and permits

Check the event rules and the local tattoo requirements.

Louisiana requires commercial body-art temporary events to be registered with the Department of Health. The event organizer or manager collects the required artist documents. In-state operators must provide a current Louisiana registration; out-of-state operators provide current First Aid, CPR and bloodborne-pathogens training plus current home-jurisdiction credentials.

Louisiana assesses temporary-event booth fees by operator type: $100 for an in-state booth and $250 for any booth hosting one or more out-of-state operators. The state says nonresident temporary registrations are valid for up to 14 consecutive days. Booths are inspected, handwashing must be available, and operators using an autoclave must provide a current spore test or use the state's single-service-articles affidavit route.

Booth approval and legal permission to tattoo are separate. Use the state guide as a starting point, then follow the event-specific regulator or organizer filing above.

Known costs not included in the booth figure

  • Louisiana temporary-event body-art booth fee
  • Additional badges beyond the current booth allocation
