Can I make a tattoo payment receipt?

Yes. Switch to Receipt mode, enter the amount you actually received, optionally add payment method, reference, tip, prior deposit and service lines, then copy the text or export the PDF. If the current payment is partial, the tool can show the remaining balance. StencilStudio does not verify that payment occurred.

Does the tool calculate sales tax or tell me which tax rules apply?

No. There is no tax-rate lookup, jurisdiction logic or tax default. You may enter a tax amount only if you already know it applies to the transaction. Invoice-numbering, tax, retention and accounting requirements can vary, so verify your own requirements independently.

Can I account for a deposit that was already paid?

Yes. Enter the amount under Deposit / previously paid only when you actually record that money as already received. The tool subtracts that artist-entered value from the calculated total. It never assumes a deposit from an earlier quote was paid.

Where is my invoice or receipt data stored?

The tool works in the browser. If you choose Save local, the draft is stored in that browser's local storage. StencilStudio does not need an account for this tool and does not upload the draft through the tool.

Service lines can represent a tattoo session, design/preparation work, touch-up, merchandise or another custom description. Nothing is assumed to be separately billable.

Discount, tax, deposit, tip and payment amounts are optional artist-entered values. The tool never looks up a tax rate, recommends a tip, predicts a deposit, or decides what a tattoo should cost.

If you saved a fixed Quote locally, the maker can import the fixed amount, project label, placement and basic artist/client context. It deliberately does not mark a quoted deposit as paid.

Browser-local by design

Keep the draft useful without building another client database.

The maker works without an account. Saving is explicit and stays in the current browser's local storage.

Use minimal client data

A client name and project label are enough for most artifact workflows. Do not use the notes field as a medical, identity, consent or payment-credential record.

Export is intentional

The draft leaves the browser only when you copy the text or download a PDF and then choose where to send, print or store it.

Deliberately narrow

Not QuickBooks, Stripe, a tax calculator or a CRM.

Keeping the boundary narrow makes the output predictable and prevents StencilStudio from claiming knowledge it does not have.

There is no automatic tax rate, payment link, card entry, bank connection, revenue dashboard, expense tracking, accounts-receivable ledger, cancellation policy generator, consent form or legal contract.

Document numbers, due dates, service labels, payment method, tax amount and notes are user-entered. If your business needs specific invoice or receipt fields, verify those requirements independently before sending the document.
