Artist applications

Application terms for this event.

Raleigh Tattoo Arts Convention is selectable in the current Villain Arts 2027 booth-holder registration. Villain Arts currently lists a 10 x 10 booth at $750 for up to two tattoo artists, with a 50% deposit to hold the booth and the balance due 30 days before the event. Artists are vetted for an approved Villain Arts artist account before they can be added to a booth roster. No separate public 2027 application cutoff is listed, so confirm live availability in the portal before booking travel.

Deadline rule

No separate public 2027 application cutoff is listed. Under the current Villain Arts policy, booth balances are due 30 days before the event.

  • Solid tattoo portfolio for Villain Arts artist-account approval
  • Completed apprenticeship for Villain Arts artist-account approval

After acceptance

  • Wake County Tattoo Permit for the convention location; visiting artists can use the temporary permit route
  • Wake County inspection before tattooing under the temporary permit

Licenses and permits

Check the event rules and the local tattoo requirements.

Wake County Health & Human Services publishes a temporary Tattoo Permit specifically for events or visiting artists. The current guidance lists a $150 fee, a maximum duration of 14 days and requires the online application and payment at least 30 days before tattooing begins.

North Carolina tattoo permits are issued through local health departments. For this Raleigh event, use Wake County's online Tattoo Permit application. After the application is processed, Wake County assigns an inspector to arrange the inspection. Do not treat the Villain Arts booth registration as the health permit.

Booth approval and legal permission to tattoo are separate. Use the state guide as a starting point, then follow the event-specific regulator or organizer filing above.

Known costs not included in the booth figure

  • $150 Wake County temporary tattoo permit for events or visiting artists
  • Additional badges beyond the current booth allocation
