Event location: Milwaukee, WI. Wisconsin licensing is the state starting point.

Event-specific steps recorded

Licenses and permits

Check the event rules and the local tattoo requirements.

Milwaukee requires temporary-event tattoo operations to hold a City Temporary Tattoo and Body Piercing License. The city lists the license as valid for the duration of the event with a $250 fee. Every practitioner must also hold a Wisconsin tattooist or body-piercer practitioner license. Confirm with Villain Arts which city license is being filed for your booth and whose name must appear on it.

Milwaukee Health Department applies temporary-event sanitation requirements to convention booths, including approved handwashing, cleanable work surfaces, sharps disposal and practitioner documentation. The city checklist requires proof of both the Wisconsin practitioner license and the city temporary-event license.

Booth approval and legal permission to tattoo are separate. Use the state guide as a starting point, then follow the event-specific regulator or organizer filing above.

Known costs not included in the booth figure

  • City of Milwaukee temporary-event license fee where applicable
  • Additional badges beyond the current booth allocation
